Calgary Visit @ 31 Weeks

Can you believe we're already here?  31 weeks + 2 days! It feels good to be this close.

Today was another awesome day!  Although we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get in for the ultrasound, the news made it totally worth it.  The appointment was for 10:45 am and we finally got called in at 12 ish.  The sonographer was really nice but had to come back twice after I'd cleaned up because of something she missed (little eye roll).

Afterward we met with Dr. Fruitman and Dr. Simrose who told us how wonderful LG looks.  Her heart function looks good, leakage is down, and her heart pumped a steady 57.

The Salbutamol is doing its job :-)  The doctors were even surprised to see how well I am coping with all the meds.  They took my resting heart rate and seemed quite surprised that it was 88.  They laughed and said most pregnant women NOT on any drugs have a resting heart rate of about 100.  They said its like my body just knows this is something I have to do and has managed to cope.  I am VERY grateful for that!

We then went over to the North Tower where I had appointments with the OB and Internalist.  The plan was to see everyone today because we'll be headed to Edmonton next week.

The OB and Internalist were really happy with the news of LG and myself.  All three doctors said they're confident if this continues over the next few weeks, Edmonton doctors will no doubt plan to push me through until 37 weeks to deliver!  That would be amazing because then we are not dealing with the complications of prematurity.

Realistically, her heart rate could still drop even on the Salbutamol.  If that happens they will just follow it closely and make decisions based on the circumstance.  The good part about that is I'm nearly there!  5 days from safety--32 weeks.

We won't have to worry about that as I expect the best.  If we're looking at a 37 week delivery she will be here somewhere between March 18 and 24.

I just can't wait to meet her--but I can!  You know what I mean?

So, with the fantastic news we headed out to the parking lot.  I got in the truck and looked up.  What's that?

Kevin decided to ignore the sign he backed into.  We are not "Reciprocal Parking". LOL

C'est la vie!  Good day nonetheless.  Got back to Red Deer, snagged our first LG and headed home.

When we got there, all she wanted to do was have some "mook" and cuddle with her puppy.

♥ her. And him too, I guess :P

Thanks for reading :-)

[Note: Next week there will not be a Wednesday post.  We will be going to Edmonton Thursday and Friday to tour the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Stollery Children's and U of A.  We will also be having ultrasounds and conferences with all the doctors.  Will definitely blog about that!  So stay tuned!]

It's "Kebec", not "Kwebec"

We have been in Quebec (pronounced “Kebec” not “Kwebec”) for about the last 6 days. The first thing I have to bring to your attention immediately is how BIG Ontario and Quebec really are! I mean, seriously, if you haven’t looked at a map in a while, pull one out right now and really take a look. Secondly, since getting through Ontario and now having driven through Quebec, there are NO bugs… Now this may SEEM great, but I don’t think it is. Our windshield has been basically clean since we left Winnipeg. Now I hate mosquito bites as much as the next person, but we all have to admit it takes ALL things to make the world go ‘round… Thirdly, we have noticed more smoking! I cannot say for sure that they ACTUALLY have more smokers than the west, but we are sure noticing a lot more people lighting up in general. I think I speak for everyone in the family when I say Quebec has been wonderful. The campground we stayed at in Montreal was about an hour from down town. We haven’t known much a...

The Zoo, Avon & Weeds a.k.a. Life

Finally I’m able to sit down with my thoughts and blog!   I know I’m beginning to say this every time, but alone-time is a precious never these days. I wouldn’t change it for anything. Last weekend was Father’s Day and I think we were able to show Daddy just how much we love and appreciate him.   There’s no denying Nola is her Daddy’s girl and she was pleased to be able to wish him “Daddy Happy Day!”   Kevin received a new watch and ball cap that I think he’ll actually wear!   Score J Lots of things have been going on with our Macleod Momentum.   The three of us girls were able to go to the Zoo with beloved cousin Stephanie, Aunt Laura and cousin Chris.   Nola had a great time as long as she was in the comfort of her wagon.   She was quite cautious about everything and I think pretty overwhelmed at the actual size of the lions and tigers and bears.   Oh my.   She’s only seen them in books, after all. We’ve also been on our fi...

My New Perspective or Back to My Old One

Now that it’s Friday night, I've had 2 full days of thinking and talking.   The information has settled and the medication has begun to invade my body. Yesterday I went to see my General Physician to update him with everything and hopefully get a listen to LG's heart. We talked about the recent developments and I laid down while he got the Doppler. He and his Intern worked together to find all three heart rates. Not too difficult now that they are very different. You see, they could always hear the atrial heart rate easily--usually a strong 140/150. But the ventricular being around 55 was nearly the same as mine so they didn’t know what they were hearing. Well yesterday they found 150 (atrial), 90 (my new resting heart beat) and a consistent 60. Now I'm not going to freak out like OMG we're fine...and my doctor was only using the standard Doppler, not a super ultrasound machine. BUT by the time I got back out to my car I sat for a second and it came over me. A fresh...
