Day 1 of 5 Day Cleanse... and a baby who still doesn't sleep

And again I’m sitting up in bed typing out some words to a few of my friends who may or may not read about this particular (minor) hiccup in my life.

Alas, Heidi is crying.  She slept for her typical two hours and has been in and out of sleep for the last hour.  For the last half hour she is determined to tell me and Kevin how much she hates… I don’t even know?  Sleep?  Who doesn’t love sleep??  She more or less loudy complaining and chewing into her blankie.  Kevin and I can’t help but share a smirk when we hear her stop, yawn and then cry in protest from her yawn.

And I’m on a cleanse.  It’s a cleanse from Young Living.  The 5 Day Cleanse.  The first day was alright.  I suffered a pretty rotten headache later in the day, but survived and feel good as I write to you.  Only 4 days to go.  I’m not supposed to have a lot of food.  They only suggest/recommend apples, pears, almonds, plain rice cakes.  Nothing too fancy.  You take their protein shake three times a day, along with a supplement called Digest + Cleanse and then 2 ounces of NingXia Red juice at ‘meal time’.

I still get inflammation from time to time which comes in the form of lung and heart inflammation.  It makes it difficult to breathe, lay down, and walk up the flight of stairs in my house… It’s painful.  I’m hopeful that by detoxing my body I’ll be able to lessen the frequency of inflammation I experience.  The seminar Kevin and I went on in Calgary in February talked about the importance of having clean insides and often when skin problems come up, it’s the last thing to show the problem.  Having a healthy core is important so here’s my first attempt at helping this 31 year old body out.

I can hear Heidi starting to tucker out from all her crying, and I put Andrea Bocelli on to soothe her.  Hopefully she’ll be able to have some rest after this.  I really wish I knew what the issue is, if there is one.  I’m looking forward to some rest myself… Nope, there she goes again.  Another long night ahead of me I think.  This will make long night #314…boo.

It's "Kebec", not "Kwebec"

We have been in Quebec (pronounced “Kebec” not “Kwebec”) for about the last 6 days. The first thing I have to bring to your attention immediately is how BIG Ontario and Quebec really are! I mean, seriously, if you haven’t looked at a map in a while, pull one out right now and really take a look. Secondly, since getting through Ontario and now having driven through Quebec, there are NO bugs… Now this may SEEM great, but I don’t think it is. Our windshield has been basically clean since we left Winnipeg. Now I hate mosquito bites as much as the next person, but we all have to admit it takes ALL things to make the world go ‘round… Thirdly, we have noticed more smoking! I cannot say for sure that they ACTUALLY have more smokers than the west, but we are sure noticing a lot more people lighting up in general. I think I speak for everyone in the family when I say Quebec has been wonderful. The campground we stayed at in Montreal was about an hour from down town. We haven’t known much a...

The Zoo, Avon & Weeds a.k.a. Life

Finally I’m able to sit down with my thoughts and blog!   I know I’m beginning to say this every time, but alone-time is a precious never these days. I wouldn’t change it for anything. Last weekend was Father’s Day and I think we were able to show Daddy just how much we love and appreciate him.   There’s no denying Nola is her Daddy’s girl and she was pleased to be able to wish him “Daddy Happy Day!”   Kevin received a new watch and ball cap that I think he’ll actually wear!   Score J Lots of things have been going on with our Macleod Momentum.   The three of us girls were able to go to the Zoo with beloved cousin Stephanie, Aunt Laura and cousin Chris.   Nola had a great time as long as she was in the comfort of her wagon.   She was quite cautious about everything and I think pretty overwhelmed at the actual size of the lions and tigers and bears.   Oh my.   She’s only seen them in books, after all. We’ve also been on our fi...

It Is True

I've discovered it is true.  Life does get busier after baby number 2.  I thought I was going to bypass this because of my organization and such, but alas I was wrong. I love to blog and find it very therapeutic.  In fact, I kept a regular journal from the time I was about 11 right up until about 17; I would write in it almost daily. Life has been a whirlwind of awesomeness since little Heidi came home.  I feel like I'm only now finding some kind of normal. Nola is being ridiculously cute daily and her little independent attitude is hilarious.  She's a lot of fun and hasn't found the tantrum dendrite yet, thankfully.  I know it will come but for now I will enjoy the way she says, "I o u Mummy" which directly translates into "I love you Mommy" or the unprompted peas and tank u.  It's especially heart warming when Heidi cries from her crib and Nola runs full out yelling, "I come Heidi!"  Awesome. Over this last weekend we had a b...
